The
Best of 1980-1990 is a greatest hits compilation released in November 1998. It mostly contains the group's hit singles from
the eighties but also mixes in some live staples as well as one new recording. It was preceded a week in advance by a limited
edition containing a special B-sides disc. The set's one new recording, "Sweetest
Thing", is a reworked version of the B-side to 1987's "Where the Streets Have No Name" single.
